Fair Isle –Port Yarn  – Weight 4 (or equivalent) – Approx 456 yards

Yarn for tassels

• Port Yarn in the color Cloud / Approx 5 yards
• Port Yarn in the color Aquatic / Approx 5 yards

Scrap yarn
Crochet Hook: 5.5mm (I)
Scissors
Yarn Needle
Stitch Marker

Gauge:

4” x 4” =  12 stitches x  8 rows in HDC

Finished Measurements:

50” x 26” x 32”

Abbreviations:

• Ch = chain
• St(s) = stitch(es)
• Sl St = slip stitch
• HDC = half double crochet
• DC = double crochet

Notes:

• Ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.

Start with a magic circle.
Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch), 2 HDC, Ch 1, 2 HDC into your magic circle.
Pull magic circle closed. [5]

Ch 1 and then turn.

2 HDC in first St, 1 HDC in next St, (1 HDC, Ch 1, 1 HDC) into Ch 1 Space, 1 HDC in next St, 2 HDC in last St. [9]

Ch 1 and then turn.

2 HDC in first St, 1 HDC in each St until you reach the middle Ch 1 Space,

Cut yarn.  Weave in all ends after you secure your tassels.

TASSELS

Cut the following:

60 – 10” Pieces of Port Yarn in the color Cloud

60 – 10” Pieces of Port Yarn in the color Aquatic

1 – 20” Piece of Yarn in Cloud

1 Piece of scrap yarn in another color

Step 1: Place 2 strands (10” Pieces) of the same color of yarn down on the table.  Take 2 strands of your second color and lay it on top.  Keep alternating 2 strands of each color until you’ve used all the strands.  (Figure 1)

Step 2: Fold your strands in half. (Figure 2)

Step 3: Take your scrap yarn and tie a loose knot at the top of your bundle. You are going to remove this yarn later. (Figure 3)

Step 4: Lay your 20” piece of yarn flat. Place your tassel on top of your 20” piece of yarn.  Make sure to leave about ½ inch from the top. (Figure 4)

Step 5: Tie a knot to secure. (Figure 5)

Step 6: Take one end of your 20” yarn you just secured and wrap it around the tassel a few times.  Once you’ve wrapped it as many times as you, take your needle and thread the tail down through the middle of your tassel to secure.  No need to cut the yarn, as it will blend in with your tassel.  Repeat on the other side, wrapping the end around the tassel and securing. (Figure 6)

Repeat to make a total of 3 tassels.

Secure one tassel to each point on your triangle scarf.  If you haven’t weaved your ends yet, use the yarn still attached to your scarf to secure one of your tassels.  Make sure to remove the scrap yarn after your tassel is secure.  For the other tassels, take a piece of yarn (main color) and run it through your tassels (like the scrap yarn) and secure the tassel to the scarf. Remove all scrap yarn.

Trim the ends of your tassels.
