Who’s ready for summer??  Made with Fair Isle Space Dye Harbor Yarn, the Shoreline Cover Up is a quick project will have you ready to head to the beach or pool in no time.  It is amazingly lightweight and can be worn multiple ways! Tie it on the side or in the front, wear it as a shawl or triangle scarf. This design is super fun and very versatile.  So, grab your yarn and let’s get making! 

Skill Level: Beginner

Materials 

2 Skeins #2 Fine Yarn / Approx 590 yards
Space Dye Harbor Yarn in the color Beach by Fair Isle Yarn or equivalent
4.0mm (G)
Scissors
Yarn Needle

Gauge:

4” x 4” = 16 stitches x 12 rows in HDC

Finished Measurements:

Body: 32” L x 40” W
Strap: 14” L x 2” W

Abbreviations:

  • Ch = chain
  • St = stitch
  • Sl St = slip stitch
  • FHDC = foundation half double crochet
  • SC = single crochet
  • HDC = half double crochet
  • DC = double crochet

Notes:

  • Ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
  • Ch 2 at the beginning of the row DOES count as a stitch.
  • The number in ( ) indicates the stitch count for that row.
  • You will not be cutting and attaching the ties.  Ties will be made starting at the end of Row 72 with the Ch 51.  Keep in mind that the ties will not be even at first, but when you finish, the ties will be even and have the same number of rows.

BORDER  

Join yarn with a Sl St to the very first St of your foundation Ch. (see figure 1)

Ch 1. HDC in the same St.  HDC evenly around in each St. 

For the sides – I did 2 HDC per DC Rows and 1 HDC per HDC Rows.

Once you reach your first St, join with a Sl St.  Finish off and weave in ends.

I recommend lightly steam blocking your cover up to bring out the stitches.  If you’re feeling extra sassy, you can add some fringe or picot edging to your new Shoreline Cover Up!
