Design Story and Inspiration
The Star Stitch Crochet Pattern has quickly become one of my favorite stitches to incorporate into my designs. I have used it on many patterns recently but really wanted to use it for a crochet basket pattern. I had tried once before but I couldn’t get it to work out how I envisioned it. With a new yarn coming out from Lion Brand needing a design I decided this yarn was worth the challenge and to try again!
For this design I wanted to try two things, one was the star stitch crochet in the round and the other was making this basket using the same method as a double brim beanie. My hope was that by using the double brim method it would help to give this basket some structure. Being as I was using a worsted weight yarn and making a large crochet basket I was worried about it holding itself up. Thankfully using the double brim method, with the addition of surface slip stitch, this basket is as sturdy as it needs to be especially once it is filled up!

About the Yarn
“Skein Tones offers a modern neutral palette aiming to complement a wide spectrum of skin tones. The collection of colors is part of the Basic Stitch® Anti-Pilling family, a very versatile 100% acrylic CYC4. Makers who gravitate towards creating garments that will integrate into their wardrobes often turn to neutral colors, and many who choose colorwork projects need a neutral to balance the bolder hues. By having a 12-color palette of nuanced neutral options you no longer have to settle for an “almost” complement to your color selections.” From the Lion Brand Website.
I love that this yarn is from the Basic Stitch Anti-Pilling Family. Basic Stitch is such a durable and multifunctional yarn! Plus it comes in a ton of colors that you can mix and match with the beautiful neutrals of Skein Tones!
