Materials

Size 6.50 mm crochet hook
Scissors
#4 Worsted Weight Yarn – 575 (600 ,665, 790, 835) yds
Yarn Needle

Gauge

12 sts X 6 rows in DC is 4” x 4”

  Stitch Descriptions and Abbreviations

  • Chain Stitch – CH – yarn over, pull yarn through stitch on hook.
  • Slip Stitch – Sl St – Insert hook into stitch or space, yarn over, pull yarn through both loops on hook.
  • Single Crochet – SC – Insert hook into stitch or space, yarn over, pull up a loop, (2 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook.
  • Half Double Crochet – HDC – Yarn over, insert hook into stitch or space, yarn over, pull up a loop, (3 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through 3 loops on hook.
  • Double Crochet – DC – Yarn over, insert hook into stitch or space, pull up a loop, (3 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through 2 loops, yarn over, pull through remaining loops.
  • * * – Designates a repeat.
  • XS (S, M, L, XL) – Use corresponding number for your size.

Front Panel

Row 1
CH 43 (49, 55, 61, 67)
DC in the 4th chain from the hook (counts as 1 DC).
DC across in each chain 40 (46, 52, 58, 64) total stitches.
Row 2
CH 1 then turn.
SC in first DC then CH 2 and skip the next DC.
SC in the space BETWEEN the next DC and the skipped DC.
*CH 2, skip next 2 DC and SC in the space BETWEEN the skipped DC and the next DC*
*   * Repeat to end working your last SC in your turning CH 3 of the last row.
61 (70, 79, 88, 97) total stitches by counting additional chains.
Row 3
CH 3 (counts as 1 DC) then turn.
*2 DC in each CH 2 space across*
*   * Repeat to last CH 2 space.
1 DC in last CH 2 space.
1 DC in 1st SC stitch of previous row.
41 (47, 53, 59, 65) total stitches.
Row 4 – 47 (49, 51, 53, 55)
Repeat Rows 2-3 ending with a repeat of Row 3.
Row 48 (50, 52, 54, 56)
CH 3 (does NOT count as 1 DC) then turn.
DC across in every stitch.
41 (47, 53, 59, 65) total stitches.
Row 49 (51, 53, 55, 57)
CH 3 (does NOT count as 1 DC) then turn.
DC in next 11 (13, 16, 16, 19) sts.
HDC in next 19 (21, 21, 27, 27) sts.
DC in next 11 (13, 16, 16, 19) sts.
41 (47, 53, 59, 65) total stitches.
Row 50 (52, 54, 56, 58)
CH 3 (does NOT count as 1 DC) then turn.
DC in next 11 (13, 16, 16, 19) sts.
HDC in next 3 sts.
SC in next 13 (15, 15, 21, 21) sts.
HDC in next 3 sts.
DC in next 11 (13, 16, 16, 19) sts.
41 (47, 53, 59, 65) total stitches.
Finish off.

Back Panel

Row 1
CH 43 (49, 55, 61, 67)

CH 3 (does NOT count as 1 DC) then turn.
DC across in every stitch.
41 (47, 53, 59, 65) total stitches.
Finish off.

Assembly

Lay your front panel on your back panel with Right Sides facing.
Seam across from the top outside corners into the neck to create the shoulders using a slip stitch working only in DC sts to leave HDC and SC open.
Sl St down the side leaving your desired arm opening.
Be sure to align your rows as you go.
Repeat seam on the other side.
Weave in your ends and turn your sweater right side out, now referred to as the Right Side.

Sleeves

Starting at the seam of the armpit attach your yarn and draw up a loop.
HDC evenly around the arm opening with the RS facing you.
Sl St back to beginning.
Ch1 and HDC up half of the width of your arm opening.
Then switch to DC for the other half of your arm opening.
Switch back to HDC when you have the same amount of DC sts on the front and back of your sleeve.
HDC back to the armpit, Sl St together and Ch1.
HDC up a 1/3 of the width of your arm opening.
Then switch to DC for the other 2/3 of your arm opening.
Switch back to HDC when you have the same amount of DC sts on the front and back of your sleeve.
HDC back to the armpit, Sl St together and Ch1.
HDC up a 1/4 of the width of your arm opening.
Then switch to DC for the other 3/4 of your arm opening.
Switch back to HDC when you have the same amount of DC sts on the front and back of your sleeve.
Join with a Sl St and finish off and repeat for the other sleeve.

  1. For the sleeve on the Felicity Tee … does it matter which direction you start (towards front or back)? It seems each sleeve would be starting in a different direction.

    1. Yes, you are correct! Work so that you have the right Sadie facing you for both sleeves. That will make it so you go from back to front on one side and front to back on the other. ??
