Pattern Description and Construction
This crocheted granny vest is an easy project that is an Intermediate Skill Level Pattern and is written in US Terms.
Worked in one piece with the only seam being created at the top of the shoulders makes this vest a breeze with no messy side of vest seam.
Be sure to leave a long tail at the end of your shoulders to use for seaming so you will reduce the amount of ends to weave in.
There is minimal shaping on this crochet project. The only area for shaping is when creating the shoulder strap and arm openings to ensure a good fit.
This is a perfect piece for warmer weather as you can layer it over a tank top to colder weather as you can layer it over a turtleneck or sweater.
This is not meant to be a tight-fitting piece and will have 2 plus inches of positive ease.
How to Customize your Granny Stripe Vest
You may customize this striped crochet vest in so many ways from changing up your yarn fiber to match the season you want to wear it in to your stripe pattern.
This pattern was designed using Lion Brand Re-Make, a brand new medium weight yarn that is part of their sustainable stitching line made of 100% post-consumer recycled polyester. Super soft, available in lots od colors and machine washable and dryable, this yarn is great for any project.
Not into polyester? I get it, you could make this vest in something like Pima Cotton Yarn for spring or summer or Wool-Ease for fall and winter.
If you wanted this crochet vest to be longer you can very easily work more than the recommended rows in the Bottom of Body Section to make it as long as you want.
To make this a more classic piece, have fun picking your colors for your stripes. However, if you want to modernize this crochet vest then you can crochet a solid colored vest and keep it simple.
