Pattern Description
Designed using US terms and a simple stitch pattern of basic crochet stitches, this lapghan pattern is classified as an Easy Skill Level, perfect for new crocheters.
You might be learning a new crochet technique for this pattern, working on the bais, also called corner to corner moss stitch. The moss stitch is created with only single crochet and chain stitches to create a gorgeous texture!
If this is a new to you stitch pattern you can watch my video tutorial that I made when using this stitch on another project to help you get started.
This cozy blanket is the perfect size made with bulky yarn and a large hook. It works up really fast and would make a great gift!
While working the bias we will also be creating a series of simple stripes using three different colors. You can play around with your colors and stripes if you want to customize this cozy throw even more!
If you choose, this cozy lap blanket can be made using a solid color, just total up the yardage of the yarns used and get that amount!

Yarn Substitutes
- Mandala Impressions (if you don’t want to do any color changes)
- Feels like Bliss
- If you want you may also switch it up completely and adjust your yarn and hook combo to use worsted weight yarn. When doing this you will end up making a smaller square blanket if you still used the same number of rows which would be baby blanket, a perfect gift!
- Pound of Love would be a great worsted weight option.
- However, maybe you want to use a thicker yarn for this easy blanket pattern making your finished size larger if you keep the same amount of rows.
- To bump it up to a super bulky yarn you can use Wool-Ease Thick and Quick or Mandala Thick and Quick.
- Whatever yarn and hook combo you decide to use for your new favorite warm blanket, just make sure to check the yarn label for hook suggestions and care instructions.

- With the easy repeat row (row 5) you can create various sizes, just be sure to hav enough yarn on hand.
Stitch Descriptions and Abbreviations
- Chain Stitch – ch
- Stitch(es) – st(s)
- Skip – sk
- Single Crochet – sc
Pattern Notes
- Throw – 42” square.
- * Designates a repeat.
- Single Crochet stitches are worked in ch-1 spaces and chain 1’s skip the corresponding single crochet below, same as working regular moss stitch not on the bias.
- Ch 3 and ch 2 at the beginning of rows do not count as stitches when noting stitch counts.
- Only ch 1’s and sc sts are counted for stitches.
- Row 1 technically only has 1 st, each Row increases by 2 when working the body of the blanket. Therefore: Row 1 – 1 st, Row 2 – 3 sts, Row 3 – 5 sts, Row 4 – 7 sts, ect.. until you reach the decrease rows.
- Color Changes are noted before each row instruction.
