October Nights Pillow Free Crochet Pattern

Materials

Size 7.00 mm crochet hook
Scissors
Double Stranded #4 Yarn– 20 oz/1000 yds
Yarn Needle18”x18” pillow

Gauge

10 sts x 8 rows in HDC is 4” x 4”

Stitch Descriptions and Abbreviations

Chain Stitch – CH – yarn over, pull yarn through stitch on hook.
Slip Stitch – Sl St – Insert hook into stitch or space, yarn over, pull yarn through both loops on hook.
Single Crochet – SC – Insert hook into stitch or space, yarn over, pull up a loop, (2 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook.
Half Double Crochet – HDC – Yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull though all loops.
Puff Stitch – PS – Yarn over, pull up a loop, repeat 4x, *9 loops on your hook* yarn over pull though 8 loops, *2 loops on your hook* yarn over pull though all loops.
Foundation Half Double Crochet – FHDC –  Chain 3, yarn over, insert hook into 3rd chain from hook, yarn over and pull up loop (3 loops on hook) Yarn over and pull through all loops, (1 foundation double crochet with chain at bottom) *Yarn over, insert hook to bottom of the stitch you just made. It will look like the top or “V” of a stitch. Yarn over and pull up loop (3 loops on hook) Yarn over and pull through all loop. To do this as an extension, you will skip the chain 3 and start using the *   * repeat.*   *
*   * – Designates a repeat.
NOTE :  Chain 2 does NOT count as a stitch.

7 HDC then *PS and then 4HDC* repeat 5 times, then PS and 7 HDC for 7 total PSts

45 total stitches.

Row 8 – 10

Repeat Rows 4-6

Row 11 – 33

Repeat Rows 3-10. However, you will end with only 2 HDC rows not 3.

FINISH OFF

Assembly

With WRONG SIDES facing, attach your yarn to top right corner (or top left if you are left handed) and SC evenly across to next corner.

Place 3 SC in the corner, then turn and continue to SC evenly to the next corner.

Again, place 3 SC in the corner, then turn and continue to SC evenly to the next corner.

Again, place 3 SC in the corner, then turn and continue to SC evenly to the next corner.

You should now have 3 sides of your pillow cover seamed.

Place your cover over your pillow.

Now continue to SC evenly to the last corner and place 2 SC and finish off.

Weave in your ends and you are done!
