How to Make this Free Triangle Crochet Shawl Pattern

This crochet triangle shawl its HUGE! Which I love, but sometimes making such a large crochet project can be exhausting! That is why when I designed this triangular shawl I started from the bottom and worked my way up using rows with one side using a decrease!

What that means is that that each row is one stitch less so that you are closer and closer to finishing this Free Crochet Pattern for a Triangle Shawl in no time! Before you know it, you will be working on such short rows you won’t be able to put this crochet project down!

How to Wear a Triangle Shawl

Materials

• 5.00 mm Crochet Hook
• 4 Skeins of Lion Brand Cotton Bamboo in Magnolia #487-098L
• #3 DK Weight Yarn – 980 yards

Gauge

14 sts x 12 rows is 4”x4” in hdc.

Stitch Descriptions and Abbreviations

• Chain Stitch – ch
• Slip Stitch – sl st
• Half Double Crochet – hdc
• Foundation Half Double Crochet – Fhdc – Chain 3, yarn over, insert hook into 3rd chain from hook, yarn over and pull up loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through 1 loop on hook (3 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through all loops, (1 foundation double crochet with chain at bottom) *Yarn over, insert hook to bottom of the stitch you just made. It will look like the top or “V” of a stitch. Yarn over and pull up loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through 1 loop (3 loops on hook), yarn over and pull through all loops.

How to Make Tassels with Yarn.

1. Using your remaining yarn, find a sturdy object that you can wrap around. I like to use one of my notebooks, this one measures 8” by 5” and I wrapped the long way.
2. Once you have the remaining yarn wrapped, cut along one edge.
3. Evenly divide your stands into 3 groups, keeping 6 strands to the side to tie your tassels together.
4. Fold your strands in half over one strand and tie tightly, folded mine measure about 4”.
5. Take a second strand and place it under the tassel with the yarn perpendicular and tie tightly again to form the ball, or top of the tassel.
6. Using a darning needle, thread the strands you just tied and wrap them over into the center of the tassel.
7. Finish by attaching one tassel to each corner of your shawl.
