Design Story and Inspiration

Lately I feel like I have been needing simple, fast and satisfying crochet projects. I just don’t have the focus to be making any large crochet projects! So I turned to this soft and chunky yarn from The Hook Nook called Yummy. It works up fast and makes beautiful stitches! I love this color and I really wanted a new accessory so I decided design this crochet hat and cowl pattern!

I wanted to create a textured fabric but I wanted it to be a simple crochet pattern. By alternating slip stitches and double crochet with this chunky yarn this cozy crochet hat and cowl pattern for beginners came to life! I only wrote the cowl for one size but the hat comes in six different sizes, from newborn baby to 3-6 months to 6-12 months to toddler to teen/adult and men’s/adult large! This crochet project would make great gifts for the holidays or you could use this baby hat crochet pattern for a baby shower gift!

About The Yarn

Have you realized yet that I have a thing for The Hook Nook Yarns? I am not a bulky weight yarn person at all but this category 5 is perfection! It’s light for a bulky yarn since it has so much fluff, it‘s not dense or heavy at all. I love that I can make fast crochet projects using this yarn but they aren’t too heavy! Plus The Hook Nook Yummy Yarn comes in SO MANY beautiful colors! You are sure to find one that you love, if you haven’t checked these yarns yet, you must!
