Design Story and Inspiration

Don’t get me wrong, I love a simple crochet project that uses the same stitch with the same number of stitches per row that I can just zone out with! However, every once in a while I like to mix it up a but with a challenge! This Free Crochet Shawl Pattern does just that! By using some many different beautiful crochet stitches like bobbles, stars and crossed stitches, this crochet project is visually interesting and fun to make! It was fun to design too! I loved working out where to change the stitch and what to use next!

About the Yarn

I am sure by now you have learned that I LOVE cottons and cotton blends! If not, you should read this post I wrote about my Top 9 Cotton Blend Yarns! Coboo is the third yarn that I list and a cotton blend yarn that I have used many times! I just love the colors that it is available in and the stitch definition and drape are fantastic! “For the natural fiber enthusiast we introduce COBOO: 50% cotton, 50% Bamboo. This CYC 3 yarns has excellent drape and stitch definition: perfect for year round garments, shawls and home decor.” From Lion Brand Yarn. How to Style

What I love about oversized shawls and scarves is that they have so many different styling options and uses! An oversized modern crochet shawl like this can be warn as a scarf when its chilly, it can cover your shoulders and the beach. I’m sure it could even be used as a coverup for some, just tie it around your hips to cover your bum! Pro tip, I like to use a hair clip for things that are tricky to tie…that would work well for this beautiful crochet shawl if you decided to let it double as a coverup!
