Summer Crochet Scarf Pattern

Free Lightweight Crochet Scarf Pattern

Make this Summer Crochet Scarf Pattern in no time using a lightweight yarn with an oversized hook! I used a thin yarn (CYC1, superfine)but don’t let that scare you and a 5.00 mm Crochet Hook to create this beautifully draped summer scarf that can also be worn as a shawl, wrap or cover up! Use the Free Crochet Pattern in this blog post or grab a PDF for easy printing!

Using Light Weight Yarn

I originally made this Summer Crochet Scarf Pattern using Lion Brand’s Merino Silk Cotton Yarn which was absolutely amazing! Sadly it has been discontinued, but that’s ok, I have yarn subs AND I made a new sample in a DK weight yarn if a CYC 1 make you uncomfortable, you can check out the Updated Mila Scarf Here and see my list below of great yarn subs to make this version.

  • Lion Brand Oh Baby Organic – a CYC 2, 100% Cotton that comes in 12 beautiful colors!
  • Mary Maxim Twinkle Baby – a CYC 1, 100%. Acrylic that comes in 14 soft and stunning colors!
  • Circulo Anne – a CYC 3, 100% Mercerized Brazilian Virgin Cotton that comes in too many colors for me to count!

I know, I listed 3 yarns in all different weights! That is the beauty of this easy crochet scarf pattern using a larger crochet hook, you can easily meet gauge with so many different yarns and still achieve that lightweight summer scarf feeling!

Easy Crochet Scarf Pattern for Beginners

Personally, I would say that this is an Easy Crochet Scarf Pattern for Beginners because it used a few simple and basic crochet stitches with one side of decreases. By using a Foundation Half Double Crochet, Half Double Crochet, Chains, some Bobble Stitches and decrease stitches you will have an elegant looking scarf that is easier to make than it looks!
