Pattern Description
Wear a field of flowers this summer when you crochet this gorgeous lacy wrap! This large triangle shawl can be worn to cover your shoulders or be worn as a transitional piece this fall!
This Lacy Shawl is made using a CYC 4 Worsted Weight Yarn called Made with Love, The Cottony One from Lion Brand Yarn. The Cottony One is a cotton acrylic blend that is very soft, comes in a range of different colors and has beautiful stitch definition.
This free pattern is an Intermediate Skill Level Pattern made with a series of chains, single crochet stitches and double crochet stitches to make a lacy fabric that resembles flowers.
For an experienced crocheter, even though this pattern is made with basic crochet stitches, you will still be satisfied with making this beautiful shawl! If you are beginner crocheter, you definitely have the skill set to create this lovely pattern, just be mindful of stitch placement and the current row you are working on.
This pattern is made over an 8 row repeat with one side always increasing until the last 5 rows to create this triangular shawl. I would suggest using placing a stitch marker in the first row of the repeat you are working on for reference.
When completed the finished size of handmade shawl will an almost perfect right triangle that looks like the 2 top corners are clipped.
This Free Crochet Lace Shawl Pattern has a wonderful vintage style vibe with its unique design and the floral motif. If you have never made any crochet lace patterns this is a great project to try for the first time!
Changing Your Yarn Weight
A question I get a lot on my free crochet patterns is “Can I use a different yarn weight?” (Yes on this pattern) but most of the time I discourage the idea unless you have a very good handle on gauge and math. Changing a pattern made in worsted weight yarn to fingering weight yarn or even lace weight yarn can be extremely difficult.
But, due to the construction of this free crochet pattern you can really use any yarn weight want, let me explain!
Since this easy project is made by starting at one corner and working to another with an increase on one of the sides of the triangle you can just keep adding or subtract row repeats!
If you want to use a lighter wight yarn what you will do is choose your yarn and the correct hook. Say you want to use fingering weight yarn, you will have to go down a few hook sizes. Then you will follow the pattern as written but you will have to do more of the 8 row repeat sections to reach the desired size of your lightweight shawl.
Do a stash dive and make this stunning crochet shawl in one of those gorgeous yarns you have been saving!
Another crochet triangle shawl pattern that can be made in any yarn weight is this lacy beach cover up that has the same type of construction and also uses basic stitches.
