How Long Should a Crochet Lap Blanket Be?
A Lap Blanket, also called a Lapghan is generally 36 by 48 inches. Crochet blankets can vary in size depending on the stitch pattern repeat, type of yarn or hook size and gauge.
The blanket sizes for this easy crochet pattern are Baby, Lapghan and Throw, they are 36 x 32, 42 x 38 and 48 x 38 inches respectively.
Designed in three different sizes, this lap blanket crochet pattern gives you the opportunity to make a great gift for a baby shower or house warming!
What is a Lapghan blanket?
A lapghan blanket is the perfect size to just cover your lap.
A cozy blanket like a lapghan is wonderful because they keep you warm but work up fast and make a great project for new crocheters looking for a larger project that will not be too overwhelming!

How Many Hours Does it Take to Crochet a Lap Blanket?
This quick crochet blanket took me less than a week only working on it during nap time!
I would estimate that making and designing this simple blanket took me a total of 10 hours using a 8 mm crochet hook and easy crochet stitches!
A few basic stitches and a few less common but simple stitches are all you need to know to make this cozy blanket in no time using a large hook.
Pattern Description
The Zig Zag Triangles Blanket is made with simple stitches and an easy repeat row that uses two different colors to create a visually amazing texture. I designed this super bulky easy crochet lapghan using Hometown from Lion Brand.
A large hook will have you making this entire blanket in no time and is a easy crochet project for a beginner crocheter looking to move on from an easy skill level project.

This easy blanket pattern is more of an intermediate skill level only because there are some less common stitches used alongside the basic crochet stitches.
You will begin with a starting chain then build your triangles by using a combination of single crochet, double crochet stitches, treble crochet, double treble crochet and triple treble crochet. These tall stitches in combination with chunky yarn make this large project work up fast!
To make this lapghan pattern you will need a minimum of 320 yards PER color for the smallest size to 448 yards PER color of the largest size. Reference the Materials below for the specific number of skeins of yarn needed.
When using the suggested yarn be sure to check the yardage of each color since it varies if it is a solid color or print. When purchasing a Lion Brand Kit the system will automatically update to the correct amount of skeins of yarn.
You could make this afghan pattern using a single color but I would highly suggest keeping this as a 2 color blanket so that the pattern pops! Imagine a classic black and white for a house warming gift or pink and white for a little girl’s bedroom!
