What is The Best Yarn For Crocheting a Rug?

The type of yarn you choose will depend on what you are using your crocheted rug for. If it is going to be in a low traffic area, go a head and splurge on wool!

However, if it will be a high traffic area you might want to opt for something easier to clean like acrylic yarn, definitely machine washable and dryable.

Cotton yarn is also a great choice if you will be using your rug in a bathroom since it is super absorbent.

If you are up for it, you can make your own t-shirt yarn. I have done it using old t-shirts or even old sheets, it actually super simple!

Just remember, like with any rug, they can be slippery so it would be a good idea to use some sort of anti-slip pad under your handmade rug.

If you can’t find a fiber you love in the correct weight, remember you can always use multiple strands of yarn to make a bulky yarn pattern!
