Design Story and Inspiration
Having little ones can make getting dressed and looking cute difficult. The tee shirt and yoga pants look gets boring sometimes and I wanted a piece that was functional, but stylish. So I designed this modern crochet poncho pattern in heartland yarn! This free crochet poncho pattern is simple but the end result is an elegant, yet easy to wear, pullover crochet poncho!
I’ll be honest, I was a bit unsure of the arm hole placement but my goal for this easy crochet poncho was to keep myself warm while also having use of my arms. If I had placed the arm holes in the sides they would have had to be more open, which would mean more of a draft! So, when you are following this crochet tutorial, if you think your placement is wrong, no worries, the arm openings supposed to be closer together!
About the Yarn
Lion Brand’s Heartland Yarn is my go-to 100% acrylic yarn. This yarn comes in a beautiful array of heathered tweedy colors that are absolutely stunning! Since this is a worsted weight yarn it is great for a fast projects, but it is so soft and it creates a really nice drape! I love that this yarn is machine washable and dryable! I have thrown my heartland yarn projects in the washer and dryer so many times and they have just be come softer while still keeping their stitch definition.

You can also easily wear this easy collared crochet poncho over leggings with your most favorite cozy slippers around the house and still have your arms available to do some tidying up!

On the poncho pattern m/l after row 117 you slip stitch to seam it together. My row ends on top where the 20 sc stitches are. Shouldn’t it end on the bottom? I’ve counted my rows multiple times to make sure I’m not off rows. Any guidance will be appreciated.
I hope I am understanding you correctly…but when you sl st together, you want to have your last sl st be at the side with the sc sts…that is the beginning of the Yoke. If you are ending opposite then you can either add or remove a row on the body before seaming…does that help?
