Sunset Clutch – Free Pattern

Materials

1 Skein of LB 24/7 Cotton – 186 yards 
(#4 DK 100% Mercerized Cotton)
5.00 mm Crochet Hook
Yarn Needle
Scissors

Gauge

15 sts x 12 rows is 4”x4” in hdc.

Stitches, Descriptions and Abbreviations

  • Chain Stitch – ch / Slip Stitch – sl st / Single Crochet – sc / Half Double Crochet – hdc
  • Foundation Single Crochet – Fsc – Chain 2, insert hook into 2nd chain from hook, yarn over and pull up a loop (2 loops on hook), yarn over, pull up a loop (2 loops on hook, yarn over and pull through both loops, (1 foundation single crochet with chain at the bottom) *Insert hook to the bottom of the stitch you just made, it will look like the top or “V” of a stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop (2 loops on hook), yarn over, pull up a loop (2 loops on hook), yarn over, pull through all loops* repeat for desired amount of stitches.
  • Bobble Stitch – bo – Yarn over, insert hook in next stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two loops (2 loops on hook) yarn over, insert hook in same stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two loops (3 loops on hook) yarn over, insert hook in same stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two loops, (4 loops on hook) yarn over, and draw through all loops on hook. Continue to next stitch.

Fsc 37, ch 1, turn.

Row 2
Sc across, ch 1, turn.

Row 3
Sc across, ch 2, turn.

Row 4
Pick up 2 loops in the 2nd chain from the hook using the front and back of the chain, pick up a loop in the sc, pick up a loop in the next 2-sc, (6 loops on hook) yarn over, pull through all loops, yarn over pull through one loop (eye of star created) *pick up a loop in the eye, pick up a loop in the last loop of the star, pick up a loop in the same stitch as the last loop of the previous star, pick up a loop in the next 2-sc, (6 loops on hook) yarn over, pull through all loops, yarn over, pull through one loop. Repeat from * to end. Hdc in the same stitch as the last star.

Row 5
Ch 1, turn, sc in hdc, sc in next eye, *2 sc in next eye. Repeat from * to end, 1 sc in last st.

Row 6 – 8
Repeat Rows 4 & 5 ending with a repeat of Row 4.

Row 9
Ch 2, turn, hdc in hdc, hdc in next eye, *bo and hdc in next eye. Repeat from * to end, hdc in last stitch, ch 2, turn.

Row 10

Embellishing and Assembly

Lay Panel A and B on top of each other with right sides facing.

Being careful to line up your stitches and rows, seam all the way around leaving the top (row 16) open.

Weave in your ends, and finish however you would like! Add a lining, add a zipper, get creative!
