easy frilly ruffle crochet scarf

Pattern Description

This Ruffled Frilly Crochet Scarf is an Easy Skill Level Pattern that is will really add some flare to your handmade wardrobe!

Personally, I don’t like ruffle type yarns but I do love ruffles and combining them with bulky yarn made the coolest crochet scarf!

Making this ruffle scarf is easy. We start with a foundation single crochet for the base of the Ruffle of the Scarf. Then we do one repeat row of single crochet before moving to a double crochet row filled with increases to make the ruffled portion.

All of those increase stitches will be what makes all the extra material to create the folds for the ruffle! It is like magic!

Once we have the Ruffle we then will reattach in the foundation single crochet to create the flat portion of the scarf which will keep the ruffle from twisting.

When we do this we will be working in the bottom of the foundation single crochet which will look just like the top row of holes of a regular single crochet. Don’t worry about the gaps created, we will fill that in with a surface slip stitch as a finishing detail!

You must be careful with the flat portion as we will be decreasing on either side to keep with the angle created by the increases for the ruffle. A stitch marker in your first and last loop will be helpful to keep track of you final stitch so you can decrease properly.
