Are Crochet Bags Trendy?
Yes they are! If you watch the trends, crochet in general is having a huge moment and this cute crochet bag is one of the very best unique crochet purses I have designed! Handmade pieces, especially shoulder bags, totes, market bags, purses and so many other different styles of bags are being created in crochet!
About This Cute Crochet Pattern
This is an intermediate skill level pattern the uses a few basic crochet stitches along with some more advanced techniques to make this stylish bag.
For this knit-look bag crochet pattern you will need to know single, half and double crochet as well as be comfortable with front post stitches and increases.
You will need a CYC4 yarn weight and a 4.00mm crochet hook size to create this purse with a beautiful texture.
To achieve the look of knitting on this small tote bag we are creating a series of tiny twisted crochet cables. To make them look seamless we will be working slip stitch rows on the return pass so this is a very dense stitch.
This beautiful bag is made with a very dense fabric due to the cables making it perfect for everyday use. If you would like to increase the durability of your bag you may add a fabric liner or even add a hard bottom as well.
We will create the body of this bag first, then continue with the first handle. Once completed you will reattach your yarn to row 1 of the bag body and create the second handle.
Next you will need to make two sides for your bag which you will then seam together with the bag body. Be very carful when you do this part so that everything aligns properly. It is important that the last row of the bag sides matches up with the first and last row to the bag body, use stitch markers.
After your bag is assembled is when you will add the crocheted ruffles. You may choose to omit them or do one less row so that they are more subtle!
Have fun making this cute pattern in different ways!
This is a perfect crochet bag pattern for the holiday season and would make a great gift or even an item to sell at craft markets. This stitch is easy to memorize and can be worked quickly once you get the hang of it.
