Yarn Substitutes to Make this Mixed Stitch Crocheted Throw

  • Cover Story would be a great blanket yarn for this bulky crochet project!
  • Mandala Thick and Quick would be perfect for a mutilcolor crocheted throw if you don’t want to change colors and weave in too many ends! A self striping yarn is perfect for an easy color change!
  • You could also make this a stash busting project and hold two to three strands of worsted weight yarn together from leftover skeins!
  • Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick is a fan favorite and would be a perfect substitute!

Tips for Making this Crochet Blanket Pattern with Super Bulky Yarn

Count your stitches before starting the next section of stitches. If your stitch count is off the next repeat row may not work in this free crochet pattern.

This pattern uses the 3rd loop which is different from the front loop and the back loop, please read the full stitch instruction below.

A large crochet hook is what makes this free crochet blanket pattern work up so quickly, be sure to check gauge! Too small of a hook will affect the look go your stitches on tis handmade blanket.

Speaking of hook sizes, if you decide to use a different yarn weight you will probably need a different hook size so don’t expect to meet gauge. Just do some simple math to make this blanket the desired length and width you want.

This blanket won’t have a lot of ends to weave in and thick yarn makes it easy but I would still  recommend weaving in your loose ends as you go on this cozy throw.
