Crochet Diamond Stitch Hat.

Design Story and Inspiration

This Crochet Diamond Beanie happened on accident…I wasn’t planning to crochet a hat! I originally created a different crochet project that I LOVE and I had some extra yarn! Well, I love the diamond stitch and I didn’t know how to crochet it in the round, so I decided to try to crochet a hat! This crochet beanie came out better than I could have hoped, so I made sure to include multiple sizes from baby to toddler to child to teen to adult women’s and men’s! About the Yarn

This yarn, Mary Maxim Irish Tweed, has been in my stash for a LONG time. I loved it so much I was scared to use it incase the project didn’t come out the way that I wanted. Not being one to deconstruct a project, it just sat not being used! I finally had an idea for a beautiful sweater that was just screaming to be made in this yarn and I had extra, so a matching beanie was a must! That was before we knew we would end up in Florida, haha!

Anyways, this yarn is a beautiful white tweed that is probably one of the softest acrylics I have ever used and is perfect to crochet a hat! Mary Maxim’s Irish Tweed is a worsted weight yarn that comes with 205 yards per skein. “A simple mixture of Aran and tweed, with flecks of soft earth tone shades for a handspun look. This rustic worsted weight yarn will create sweaters and afghans with a soft country style.” From the Mary Maxim Website. The simple free crochet pattern is just below in this blog post!

How to close your crochet hat.

I really loved stretching my brain to crochet a hat using the diamond stitch in the round. I know others have probably done it before but I always understand patterns better when I can think it through myself. With a ton of help from my testers I hope I was able to communicate it in a way that you were able to make a beautiful crochet diamond stitch beanie too!
