Must Makes, pattern review

The Sakura Shawl

Do you love crochet shawls? Maybe you’re not sure you love shawls? Or maybe you have never made a crochet shawl? That was me not to long ago until I was a tester for The Sakura Shawl.

I had the pleasure of testing The Sakura Shawl for Crochet By Ellen and I instantly fell in love. What I love about a shawl is that you can wear them so many different ways. Yes, there is the traditional over the shoulder styling, but I love using them more like a scarf!

The Sakura Shawl is an interesting, long and tapered shawl that is fun to make and can be worn as a scarf as well! Ellen crocheted a beautiful combination of star stitches and double crochet while finishing it off with an absolutely stunning border. I ended up gifting The Sakura Shawl to my mom for Mother’s Day and believe me, it was hard to part with!

Ellen designed this shawl to represent the beautiful cherry blossoms in her area of the PNW. I had the honor of not only being able to test this pattern for Ellen but I made it in the custom color-way she worked up with the ever so talented Becky, from Thistle and Hart. Sadly, this was a limited edition color-way, but Becky has an amazing selection of colors. I highly suggest grabbing some if you plan on making your own Sakura Shawl or any other projects!
